Zoe Fane
Personal Trainer - Mt Wellington
As I kid I always played sports but I never thought I was the “gym type”. I never thought that I could be a gym bro or compete with others that went to the gym. But when lockdown hit, I just needed to do anything to move my body and keep my mental health in tact.

It started with weight training at home and eventually I braved the gym. I was scared, I was worried that everyone would judge me. But I came to find peace in training.

The mentality that I had is what motivated me to become a personal trainer. To create a safe space for anyone and everyone, who wanted to join the gym and improve their mental and physical wellness.

We never have to have the perfect body or be able to lift the heaviest weight, we just need to start.

Weight training will always be my first love, but I enjoy HIIT, boxing, running and everything in between. I’ll try anything once. And as a breathwork facilitator, I wear multiple hats, working out is as much for the mind as it is for the body. We all want to be our strongest and fittest, but having the opportunity to connect with the body and the mind is one of the best parts of the workout.

My biggest aim is to make you feel your most comfortable while also pushing you out of your comfort zone to reach your goals.

Qualifications:

- New Zealand Certificate in Exercise Level 4
- Certificate 1:1 and Group Breathwork and Meditation

I have always had a passion for health and fitness from a young age. It has not only given me a healthier physical life but also has had a profound effect on my mental well-being. I wish to share my experiences and expertise with others to help them transform their life!

I grew up mainly playing rugby, which led me into CrossFit. My background in CrossFit has given me great insight to many different training methods and confidence in such a wide range of movements/skills.

Throughout my years of training I have battled with a fair amount of injuries, which pushed me to be more focused on prehab/rehab for myself but my clients as well. Training shouldn't be putting our bodies in vulnerable positions but improving our movement quality to feel better day by day.

Fitness is about creating a sustainable and enjoyable lifestyle that supports your physical and mental health. Finding exercise modalities that make you feel good, increase your energy levels, and promote overall wellness. Happy training for a stronger and healthier you!

My fascination for the human body has been present from a young age. Sports and gymnastics were a big fave as a kid, and practising those skills on the farm in the holidays jumping over hay bails and spriting up hills kept that passion alive.

It wasn’t until I went to University that my knowledge and physical ability grew. I started experimenting, kicking off my official introduction to strength training. I graduated from university in 2013 and made my way overseas to explore what the world had to offer.

From working and organising beach boot-camps on the sunny coast of Australia, to the boutique strength studios in the winters of the UK, I managed to progress my knowledge and refine my teaching skills as I was exposed to different socio-demographics and cultures.

This led me into the nitty gritty of pushing my body to its limits as I embarked on my bodybuilding journey. Discipline and determination were stretched as I shaped and guided my body to its optimal physique, and mentally grew my threshold with self-motivation. I loved this! it enabled me to be an even better coach and understand first-hand what it feels like to embark on the ‘art’ of changing habits physically, mentally and emotionally.

Saudi Arabia was my next stop, with a unique opportunity to train the Royal Family. An experience like no other. The fitness culture, the lifestyle and the sheer difficulty of juggling materialistic views with health really challenged my perceived view of fitness and my communication skills.

On my departure from the Middle East, I was ready to head back to Aotearoa, and found myself in Singapore! My last stop on this wild adventure allowed me to harness my rehabilitation skills and guide my clients from post-surgery operations to jumping and running again. A truly humbling and knowledge-building experience.

Finally, I returned to Aotearoa, home at last and am currently in the 2nd year of my paramedicine degree. Furthering my knowledge from a medical standpoint has been the best decision I have made! Not only do I get to share my knowledge and work with my passion physically, I get to understand what is happening from a micro-biological view.

Fitness is a huge part of my life and I have dedicated my 20s to mastering my coaching skills, and still continuing to learn every single day from my colleagues and clients.

My motto is ‘Look good and move well’ - I aim to solidify your strength and conditioning and allow you to do this, and still have agility and flexibility to enhance your day-to-day living. Personalising your goals, holistically and realistically and understanding your limitations. Having fun is also KEY… are you ready?

Personal Trainer - Mt Wellington
Hey there! I'm Jodie, a fitness enthusiast with a passion for helping others find their strength and confidence.

From a young age, I've been bursting with energy, always seeking ways to stay active. But it wasn't until I hit a rough patch in my late teens that I truly discovered the transformative power of the gym. Dealing with depression and mental health struggles, I found solace and purpose in working out.

Despite being naturally slim, the gym helped me gain muscle and view my body in a whole new light. It wasn't just about physical gains—it was about reclaiming my confidence and prioritising self-care.

One of the most significant changes came in my diet. Previously filled with processed foods, I shifted towards nourishing my body with whole foods and home-cooked meals. Not only did this improve my energy levels, but it also had a positive impact on my digestive health and overall well-being.

In addition to personalised fitness programs, I specialise in creating adaptable workouts tailored to your needs and goals. Week by week, I craft the perfect regimen that evolves with you, ensuring it's always adaptive and responsive to how you're feeling. Whether you're seeking high-intensity CrossFit sessions to push your limits, focused strength training to build foundational strength, or hypertrophy workouts to sculpt your physique, I've got you covered. Your well-being and progress are my top priorities, and I'm dedicated to guiding you through workouts that not only challenge you but also empower you to reach your full potential.
Onelani Pongi
Certified Personal Trainer
I was always a skinny kid growing up and that was not necessarily a good thing in the Tongan culture. I joined the gym when I was 17 to build muscle for confidence and strength for rugby. After high school I got caught in the culture of drinking & eating takeaways and started to pile the weight on.

2017 will always be a memorable year for me. I set myself the goal to focus my time and energy for one whole year to eat clean and exercise. It was not an easy road, but with hard work and determination I smashed my goal and I have never looked back since. During my year of change, my body started to feel amazing and I started to crave exercise. The weight dropped off, I started to see results and my passion for health started to grow. I started to become stronger not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

I want to share this feeling and these positive habits I have created to help other people; this is the reason I decided to become a personal trainer.

As I trainer, we will sit down and talk about your own personal goals and where you want to be. I will be that support you need to push you through the hard days and keep you on track. All I ask is for your commitment and trust. Whether you want to build muscle, lose fat or both, together we can achieve this through resistance and cardio training. Start the change to a better you today.

Certified Personal Trainer
When I think about my childhood I am reminded of the craziness that was our household. My parents driving my siblings and I to every sport. Soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis, netball, touch it was manic.

As I got older it was evident that sport and exercise was an integral part of my life.

Health & fitness has seen me travel to seek new challenges, from hiking along the Rhein River in Germany to playing in a rugby tournament in Ottawa Canada. Netball has seen me travel Australia representing Victoria at a National level. So many experiences I would not have had if I didn’t find my love and passion for exercise and sport.

Exercise has always provided me a safe space to work hard and escape the daily pressure that we put on ourselves. It gives me the opportunity to do and be better every day.

My intention is to always provide a welcoming place for you to escape. Build and execute goals you thought would elude you. I care about you and your goals whether it be weight loss, muscle gain, strength building or sport specific development. I want to see you succeed and create those healthy habits that will lead to you leading a healthy lifestyle.

I've never been a natural athlete - as my Mum would tell you I have spent most of my life avoiding eating vegetables or getting sweaty -and instead tried every new diet, treatment, fad etc to get in shape! A few years ago something clicked and I discovered a love of training & the way it made me feel. It did wonderful things for my self-belief and I think that’s the reason I stuck with it. I've made it part of my life & I want to help other people do the same.

Aside from the aesthetic & health benefits – my favourite reason for training is the confidence that comes from it. You can’t beat the feeling of completing a tough session, achieving a PB or smashing a goal. I love the 'aha' moments when people realise they are stronger mentally and physically than they first thought.

I provide safe and effective training in a fun, supportive environment. I want my clients to know that I am their biggest cheerleader and help them feel motivated and inspired to reach their goals.

Fitness and health has been a central part of my life since I was a teenager, whether it be bettering myself for a specific goal such as a boxing match or football tournament, or supporting others on their fitness and sports journeys.

Growing up as a skinny ginger kid in the north of England, I loved seeing how fitness changed my life for the better. It kept me out of trouble, made me strong and despite being challenging, gave me the confidence I didn’t even know I was missing. It was here that my passion for exercise grew and the seed for my future career as a personal trainer was planted.

As a trainer I continue to be amazed by the benefits of exercise both physically and mentally, and strive to support others on their fitness journeys. For me it’s all about tailoring approaches and creating fun environments that help you achieve your goals.

Sometimes this might mean running you through a boxing session that helps you beat away the stresses of a work day, other times it might be a fast paced circuit or some strength and conditioning, my main priority is that we develop a programme that fits your needs and continues to grow and change with you.

Helping people achieve things they never thought they could is what drives me as a trainer. Having experienced the impact training had to my own self belief and confidence, it never ceases to amaze me what our bodies and minds are capable of.

For years I would try any yo-yo/fad diet to lose weight - only to gain it all back, which impacted my mental and physical health.

I dabbled in occasional exercise and eventually tried strength training and boxing, which gave me the nudge I needed down the path of helping others. Being fit, healthy and forming positive habits can be really daunting but we are here to help you through all stages of your journey.

Martin Betty
Owner
Hello! My name is Martin Betty and I am a co-owner of SmartFit. I am 52 years old and I have honestly spent 47 years avoiding “the gym”. After months if not years of saying to myself that I must go for a run or telling myself that I need to look after myself better I finally googled 'Personal Trainer'. After I did the initial consultation I was honestly thinking "What have I done!" But I went back, and I have kept going back. At some point it became addictive... Now those of you who know me, know that me and exercise have always been polar opposites. Having a Personal Trainer that is fun and encouraging and really understands my potential is part of my new addiction! I come from a corporate world and going to a gym was just not something that ever appealed to me. For a start, I didn’t know what to do, and I didn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of a gym full of “beautiful people”. Even now, I still don’t feel like I would ever fit in or feel comfortable going to a “Gym”. My partner and I signed up for a couples personal training sessions and we loved it so much that we really want to encourage others to take the leap and give it a go... I managed to convince my amazing personal trainer Gabriel Bajings to come with me. With his expertise, we have created a wonderful private personal training studio, full of the latest and greatest fitness equipment. My personal goal is to help people just like me (and you) to take the action they have long wanted to take and feel great about themselves. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Gabriel Baijings
Owner/Co-Founder
Qualifications:
I entered the gym for the first time at age 14, standing 160cm tall and weighing in at 48 kg. From day one, I had a natural passion for fitness and training. After my first year of training with my personal trainer I already knew what I wanted to do, and at age 16, my passion for health and fitness, coupled with my sporting background, led me to becoming a certified personal trainer. My career began actually working on my own health and weight challenges and trying to gain knowledge to only better myself. As a young teenager I struggled with my weight and overcame personal obstacles which helped me realise the importance of exercise and eating healthy. I strongly believe in the necessity for an active lifestyle, encompassing a balance of all the compulsory components of fitness. Over the years, it has given me great satisfaction to pass along my existing knowledge and enthusiasm with the highest standard of service, safety and professionalism to those wanting to adopt a lifestyle of physical and mental well-being. I try to create a training environment that not only motivates but also empowers individuals to continually challenge themselves in a fun and rewarding way. I believe that we all, regardless of our current conditioning, are able to achieve the goals that we have set out for ourselves. With consistency and perseverance, anything is possible.
